Scholarships

The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation is pleased to announce that applications for this year's scholarship awards are now available. A variety of scholarships are available for high school seniors and non-traditional students. Before submitting an application, please review the eligibility requirements and instructions which are explained on the first page of each application. Eligibility requirements are different for each scholarship. Applications are in a form document that should be saved and emailed to Kara G. Seesholtz, Program Officer, at kseesholtz@csgiving.org.

The deadline for all applications is Friday, April 16, 2010.

Berwick Health and Wellness Fund Scholarship
To be eligible, a student must live in the service area and be a graduating senior at one of the following high schools: Berwick, Benton, Central Columbia, Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech, Northwest, or West Side Vo-Tech. The student must be accepted into a two or four-year college pursuing a health profession or one- or two-year certification program. The term health professions; is broadly defined to encompass the many and varied health-related careers, ranging from vocational nursing and dental assistant, to health education, to dentistry and medicine. Up to nine $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for up to four years.

 

Berwick Health and Wellness Fund - Non-Traditional
To be eligible, a student must live in the service area, be at least age 23, and be accepted or enrolled in a two or four-year college with a declared health profession major as described above. This is a one year award of $1,000. 

 

Walter and Florence Vorbleski Award
These awards are offered for graduating seniors enrolling in a two or four-year college majoring in one of the following: pre-med; nursing; physician assistant; nurse practicioner; surgical technician. This award provides one-year awards of $500 to $1,000.

The mission of the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund is to improve the health and welfare of the Berwick area community. Its service are includes the following areas: Benton Borough and Township; Berwick Borough; Briar Creek Borough and Township; Butler Township; Conyngham Borough and Township; Fishing Creek Township; Hollenback Township; Hunlock Township; Huntington Township; Mifflin Township; Nescopeck Borough and Township; New Columbus Borough; North Centre Township; Salem Township; Shickshinny Borough; South Centre Township; Stillwater Borough; Sugar Loaf Township; and Union Township.

 

Hartman Family Scholarship

Warrior Run High School seniors attending The Pennsylvania State University are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Special consideration will be given to students who are studying agriculture or education, have exhibited a high degree of academic achievement and community involvement (4-H or other educational and service oriented youth programs), and to students who are the first in their immediate family to attend a bachelor's program.

 

Luis A. Ramos Scholarship

This scholarship is for a Berwick Area or Northwest Area High School senior. Special consideration given to students who have participated in a soccer program, students of Hispanic Heritage and/or students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community.
