Organization Endowments
The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation provides
nonprofit organizations the opportunity to place their Organization Endowment
Fund at The Foundation. The Foundation offers a matching grant program for
new organization endowments. The Foundation provides a 1:1 match for endowment
funds up to a maximum of $50,000 if the fund is placed with us.
Starting your organization's endowment or placing your
current endowment at The Foundation can be a simple, flexible and efficient
way to achieve your endowment goals. By pooling your endowment fund with
The Foundation’s other assets, you gain many advantages in terms of
investment expertise.
One other benefit to placing your endowment funds at The
Foundation is that it reassures donors that the funds earmarked for endowment
purposes will be used for such and not be invaded when the first crisis
arises. These types of safeguards can be built into the design of your endowment
fund.
- The minimum contribution required to establish an Organization Endowment Fund is $10,000. Additional contributions can be added to the fund at any time and in any amount.
- The Foundation will manage your endowment fund as a part of The Foundation’s
investment pool. Your agency benefits from a diversified portfolio,
high quality professional money management, and low money management
fees. In agreeing to place the endowment fund with The Foundation, the
organization agrees that the Board of Trustees of the Central Susquehanna
Community Foundation has the authority to modify or eliminate any restrictions
on the fund should such designation, restriction or condition become
unnecessary, undesirable, impractical or incapable of fulfillment.
- Distribution of the Organization Endowment Fund to the organization is determined at the time of inception. It is recommended that the board of directors for the organization establish endowment fund goals and the terms under which distribution from the endowment will take place.
- The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation cannot engage in any fund raising on behalf of organizations placing their endowment funds at the Foundation.
- The organization cannot control the investments of the endowment.
- A legal document is required to establish the Organization Endowment Fund.
