Auxiliary Board 2009:

The Berwick Health and Wellness Fund Auxiliary is a group of 260-plus members that give support to the young and old in the Berwick Community through conducting fundraising and community service projects.

The Auxiliary was founded in 1929 as the Berwick Hospital Auxiliary. Today, the organization continues many of its volunteer efforts at the hospital and has expanded its efforts to provide health related services around the Berwick area. The members coordinate children's tours and sibling classes at the Berwick Hospital. Another program offered is the donation of infant car seats to new parents in the original service area of the Berwick Hospital which includes 23 local municipalities. The Auxiliary also provides volunteers for local nursing homes that assist in providing regular activity programs as well as outing and special events for the residents.

The Auxiliary holds two large fundraisers each year to support community projects. The Annual Dinner Dance is held in late April. Another well known event the Auxiliary holds is the Golf Classic four man scramble tournament that takes place the first Friday of Une annually at the Berwick Golf Club. The theme of the events is "Supporting our Community." With that in mind, the proceeds from the Dinner Dance and Golf Classic in 2009 were donated to the Berwick Area YMCA for their capital campaign. In past years the proceeds of the events were donated to assist with the capital campaign project of the McBride Memorial Library.

The Auxiliary invites new members who wish to actively participate in volunteer activities, or who prefer to simply support the organization and its community service. The cost to join is $7 annually, $75 for a life membership, and $50 for a senior life membership. Members receive a quarterly newsletter from the Auxiliary.
