Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation

About Us
The Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation was begun in 1994 by members of the Selinsgrove Rotary Club.  It was originally known as the Selinsgrove Area Youth Foundation due to its limited focus on providing scholarships to graduating seniors at Selinsgrove High School.  In the years since its beginning, the SACF has grown and expanded its mission to include a broader base of needs for not only Selinsgrove but also the surrounding communities.

In addition to nearly $100,000 in scholarships, the SACF has supported organizations such as the American Red Cross, Camp Cadet, Selinsgrove Area PTSO, Selinsgrove Ice Rink, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, Economics PA, Project Discovery, Summer SEALS Day Camp, Susquehanna Valley Chorale, Free Enterprise Week, Selinsgrove Pool, Middleburg Pool and others.  The list of community organizations who have been helped continues to grow.

Who Uses a Community Foundation?
Wealth is relative and amounts vary, but one thing is for sure – you don’t need a huge amount of money to make a lasting difference in your community.  People who utilize the services of a community foundation come from all walks of life, from across a broad spectrum of social and economic backgrounds.  In other words, anyone can use a community foundation to make a difference.

Why Do People Support a Community Foundation?
For many people it’s a way of saying thank you to the community where they worked or that provided their business the opportunity to thrive and succeed. For some, it’s a thank you for the quality of life the community afforded them and their family.  And for others, it’s the clear understanding that it’s really everyone’s responsibility to insure the future of the community. Quality of life comes with a price and being able to play a part in preserving that aspect of one’s community is very rewarding for many.

How We Can Help You
Like all community foundations, the SACF provides a vehicle to help members of the community set aside funds that can be used for very specific purposes like the arts, recreation, youth or whatever.  Or, for those who just want to make sure funding will be available to meet unforeseen needs of the future.  In either case, the SACF is responsible to oversee the funds in a way that preserves and grows them, thus insuring that the donor’s wishes are met for generations to come.
