Sunbury Area Community Foundation

The Sunbury Area Health Foundation was formed in 2005 out of the sale of Sunbury Hospital.  With more than $3 million in assets from the sale, the goal of the SAHF was to improve healthcare in the Sunbury region.  In 2006, the Sunbury Area Health Foundation was affiliated with the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation. 

The Sunbury Area Health Foundation recently changed its name to the Sunbury Area Community Foundation (SACF). The Sunbury Area Health Fund will now be a component fund with the same original purpose and geographic service area as defined in the asset purchase agreement.  Adopting a community foundation business model helps the Sunbury Area Community Foundation attract philanthropically minded individuals and companies to use the foundation to establish endowed funds for the community.

Over the last four years, the Sunbury Area Community Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 in grants to A Community Clinic, Inc. and $47,000 to the Susquehanna River Valley Dental Health Clinic. These are just two examples of the many ways your Foundation is making a difference in the Sunbury area. With the generous support of the Mary Derr Rockefeller Auxiliary, individuals, and local businesses we can continue to grow in our philanthropy and increase our support to programs, like this one, that will meet the needs of local families.

The Foundation’s current focus is on health-related grant investments and scholarships through the Sunbury Area Health Fund.

Donors may utilize the Sunbury Area Community Foundation to give something back to the community. You can create a fund in your own name, in honor of someone you love, or to commemorate a special event. You can direct your gift broadly or specifically to the issues you care about most.
