2005 BHWF Grants
The Berwick Health and Wellness Fund awarded new grants totaling
$1.1 million in 2005. In addition, the foundation is paying out multi-year grants in
2005, including the Berwick Public
Library and the Nurse-Family
Partnership.
The foundation awarded 98 new grants to more than 40 different non-profit organizations. Some of the grants were approved through the foundation's annual grant review process in which organizations receive an open opportunity to apply for grants. Other awards were made through a strategic process that targeted particular goals of the foundation.
In determining which grants to award, the grant-making committee looks at the major goal areas in addition to factors such as the organization's ability to measure outcomes and the future sustainability of the project.
